This is the letter sent to all parents/ carers on Tuesday 9th July 2019 detailing arrangements for all pupils fo rthe end of term:
Dear parents, carers and colleagues,
As we near the end of the Summer Term, we are pleased to share news about our special OA Activities Week. Every pupil at the academy will be taking part in a broad range of special trips and activities during the week Monday 15th July 2019 to Friday 19th July 2019.
OA Activities Week is all about giving every one of our pupils the chance to learn new skills, challenge themselves, develop their confidence, broaden their learning and have lots of end of term fun. The activities are linked to projects the pupils have been working on and to the academy curriculum. Each pupil and their parent/ carer will be given an individual activity week plan by their academy coach which will explain what your son/daughter will need to bring with them and their personal timetable for the activities they will be doing. Here are some of the activities our pupils will have the chance be involved in:
· Nature trails at Thetford Forest
· Meet the animals at Colchester Zoo
· Take on the outdoor lazer-tag physical challenge
· A day of exploration and learning at the beach and a trip to the Sealife Centre
· Outdoor adventures at Holywells Park
· Thrills and fun at Pleasurewood Hills
· End of year BBQ and celebration
We are also writing to you to let you know that the last day of term for all our pupils will now be Friday 19th July 2019.
This is a change to our published term dates and is to allow for additional INSET days on Monday 22nd July to Wednesday 24th July 2019. These special INSET days have been granted to us by the local authority to allow for additional, essential staff training to be completed in preparation for the new academic year. We will be contacting all local authority services who need to be aware of this change. This includes ensuring that pupil transportation is cancelled for those days.
As we said in our last letter, this is an exciting time for Olive AP Academy – Suffolk with our new facilities and new curriculum offer for our pupils launching in September. I appreciate your patience and support as we further develop the academy to meet all our pupils’ needs and ambitions. First day back for all pupils after the holidays will be Wednesday 4th September 2019.
We would like to wish every one of our pupils and their families a very happy summer break. A newsletter is being sent out later this week detailing some of the local activities for children and young people which they can get involved with during the holidays. It also has information about where to get any help or support you or your family may need during the summer break.
All of us at the academy wish our Year 11 leavers all the best as they move on to apprenticeships, further training courses and college. We are so proud of the progress each of them has made and we look forward to seeing what each of them will go on to achieve.
