Here is a copy of the letter from Mark Vickers, Chief Executive, Olive Academies sent out to all parents and carers:
May I wish all our pupils and their families a happy new year and welcome back to the new term at Olive AP Academy – Suffolk. Following on from my letter at the end of last term, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Annabel Bates as Olive AP Academy – Suffolk’s Executive Headteacher.
Annabel has a proven track record of leading schools and coaching school leaders. She originally trained as a secondary teacher of modern languages before becoming a headteacher at a large Ark secondary school in London.
Annabel comes with expertise in the fields of inclusive practice, education leadership and curriculum design. She worked for United Borders, a London-based charity which works with marginalised children and young people, where she developed innovative models of learning and supported school leaders within a number of pioneering organisations – including Big Education and Big Picture Learning.
This is a significant appointment for Olive Academies. I know that Annabel shares our Trust’s ambition to develop Olive AP Academy – Suffolk into a centre of excellence which gives all our pupils the best possible opportunities and demonstrates the best inclusive practice in education.
Acknowledging her extensive experience, Olive Academies has also appointed Annabel as our Trust’s Director of Academies. Annabel will take on responsibility for the implementation of the Trust’s pioneering education strategy across all its three alternative provision academies.
I know that Annabel is looking forward to meeting and working with our pupils, their families and our colleagues from local schools.
I am pleased to announce that Gary Haines will be taking up the post of Associate Headteacher at the academy. Many of you will have met Gary last term. Gary trained at The Institute of Education and gained extensive teaching and leadership experience in London schools before joining Olive Academies as the Deputy Headteacher at our Havering academy. Annabel will be working closely with Gary at the academy to ensure a smooth transition and continuity of support for all our pupils.
We always welcome parent/carer visits to our academy; please do get in contact with Gary (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Annabel (email@example.com) if you would like to set up a meeting or to arrange a visit to the academy.
I hope you will join me in extending a warm welcome to Annabel and Gary as they settle into our academy community.
Mark Vickers, Chief Executive, Olive Academies
